Woodgrain Tutorial Reprise
If you watched yesterday’s From the Mailroom video, you’ll know about the request for western/cowboy cards…the Scrap Wrangler doesn’t know how many questions you all have when she puts out a challenge like that, so I’m jumping in on our Tuesday post to give you a little more info :0) -Sandy
Thursday (day after tomorrow) I’ll be sending this hero’s next box. I’ve pulled a dozen or so western cards as I’ve seen things come in the last few days, so will have a little section for him in this one. But I’d love to send a whole box full of cowboy cards to him (which means I need some of all themes!) next month! So have your cowboy-related cards in by March 20 – that’s QUICK so get on it, lil doggies! I don’t need gobs of them – but other heroes will love getting some sprinkled in their boxes; we never get enough masculine/unisex cards, so this challenge should really help out!
Please make our USUAL THEMES for these cards – thank you, miss you, love, birthday, or thinking of you/general (includes blank, hello, and ones like the sample below.) Please be aware there are some really odd stickers out there that are intended for scrapping and not cardmaking. Make sure the sentiment is for a card someone would think, “Ok that makes sense, I could send that to my brother.” This sentiment below (by Waltzingmouse Stamps in the UK) is one that they might easily send to someone at home who needs some encouragement to take a big step. Make sense?
The tutorial is one from Gina K that we shared HERE – sweet video on making your own woodgrain backgrounds. I did it on a couple panels by dragging a couple inkpads down the panels, like Gina did. A bonus tip: The sentiment and star are popped, so the pearl pen will not ever get stuck to the card in front of it – the dimension, even though just a wee bit, holds the next piece of paper away from the pearl pen. So tuck yours next to a dimensional element to protect it if you have trouble with it staying sticky!
This design would even be western-ish without the sentiment being all western – just add a star and some woodgrain and your favorite missing you stamps, and you’re ready to go, pardner!
You can also make Father’s Day cards (they won’t go in this hero’s next box) while you’re on a masculine whim….get busy! Let’s see your western cards in the Inlinkz below!
PS Nancy will be back with another Tool Time episode next week, so y’all come back now, hear?
