Card Sketches with measurements
For almost all our years of operation, sketches were a regular part of our crafting. Working from sketches helps organize elements on a card, and since our sketches are one of the few with measurements – they’re easy for even new crafters to use!

Sandy made the sample card for this sketch… You can watch Sandy’s video below or click HERE to watch in HD on YouTube. I, too, want to add a few words of thanks. My sincerest thanks to Sandy, the OWH Board of Directors, the OWH Blog Team, and my fellow card makers. It’s been an incredible experience to be a part of such a generous, uber-talented, passionate family of crafters. It’s been an honor and a pleasure. And, don’t forget, Sandy’s just a click or two away. We’ll be able...read more
Today’s sketch was inspired by this cheery card sent to us by super-talented Barb. Black, blue, yellow, and white is not a color combo that I typically see, but Barb has absolutely rocked this palette! And, her banners’ proportions are perfect! Barb’s simply having too much fun making cards to take time out to blog about her creations. So, please leave her some OWH love in the comments. Share your sketch-inspired cards! Today’s sketch is the first horizontal one we’ve had in a while. And, it seems to have a few more elements than our last few sketches. I’m seeing an opportunity for lots of interesting embellishments. Our great sketch was inspired by this cheerful thank you card made by our very own multi-talented Kristie. Yes, that would be Kristie who brings us OWH’s ODBD and Mid-Month Challenges. Kristie’s paper choices and fun embellishments make for such a happy card! More of Kristie’s work, including her...read more
Hi, everyone! Happy Saturday! A big thanks to all of you made cards for Sketch #255. The linked up cards were so nice, and it is wonderful to see so many folks finishing strong for OWH! Sandy has another great sketch for us! And, as with the last couple of sketches, this sketch seems to have just the right number of elements for CAS lovers to embrace while allowing for some fun sentiments and embellishments. Today’s sketch was inspired by this fun card sent to us by Cindy. Don’t you just love these bright, cheery colors —...read more
Hi, everyone! We’re actually coming to you with this sketch a week later than originally scheduled due to last weekend’s bloghop. Talk about a great reason to delay a post! Speaking of the bloghop, wasn’t it wonderful?! Big thanks to everyone who linked cards, left comments, and/or hopped along. Our OWH Community never ceases to amaze — and last weekend was a perfect example of just how much OWH has come to mean to so many of us. Sandy’s created another great sketch for us. It looks like a sketch that CAS lovers...read more
Happy May! Boy, where did April go? The year just seems to be flying by. A big thanks to all of you who were inspired to make a card for our last sketch. The linked up cards looked great. Like our last sketch, Sketch #254 is a nice middle-of-the-road sketch. It has an overall CAS design — with just enough elements to make for some interesting layers and embellishments. This week’s sketch was inspired by a wonderful card from Carol E. Carol’s card has a soothing palette that would work for guys or gals. And, don’t...read more
Hi, everyone! Happy Saturday! Thanks so much for your sketch-252-inspired cards. The linked-up cards look great and will be appreciated by our heroes and their loved ones. Today’s sketch seems to be another nice middle-of-the-road design. Its overall layout is pretty basic, and yet there are enough elements to allow for some interesting layering and embellishments. Our sketch was inspired by this absolutely lovely card sent to us by the wonderfully talented Sharon. What a striking palette! And, I just love how Sharon mimicked the...read more
Hello! First of all, thanks to all of you who used Sketch #251 to make a card… or two… or three for our troops. The posted cards looked great! It seems the CAS-iness of the last sketch was a big hit. Sketch #252 seems like a nice middle of the road sketch for those who lean towards CAS and those who like layers. The sketch above was inspired by a card we received from Jean S. Jean, who is a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator, has been stamping for about 20 years. Those of you who follow our Featured Friday Card Maker might remember...read more
Happy Spring! Well, at least it’s spring according to the calendar. However, in my neck of the woods, the snow that fell this week is telling a different story. Thanks so much for playing along with Sketch #250! Your cards will be appreciated by our troops and treasured by their loved ones. This week’s sketch is perfect for those of us who love the clean-and-simple style. With the fast-approaching March 31 Mother’s Day card deadline, our sketch could make a sweet mom card with a floral background and some pretty ribbons. (A...read more
