Sketch Challenge #142

Sketch Challenge #142

Hello, sketchers! All the cards linked up last week were so great! I hope y’all took a moment to visit everyone that linked up!

I’m looking forward to seeing what y’all do with the sketch I have for you today…

I have three, count ’em, THREE sample cards to share with you today. These were all made by the fantastic Kathryn! She has a blog called Kathryn’s Cards – be sure and visit for more details and to see more of her beautiful work. I love the variety of styles here: cute and fun, shabby chic, and modern graphic. I like them all, and what a great way to show the versatility of a sketch. Thanks for the awesome cards, Kathryn!

There you go, folks, plenty of inspiration! Go make something beautiful and come link it up below on our Inlinkz! If you don’t have a blog, try an online gallery such as Flickr!

  1. I love the frayed look of the banners in the second card. Did Kathryn use fabric? I went to her blog, but couldn’t find the card. Maybe we could get a tutorial for this in the future?

    • Kaylee, thanks for the comment. I have the cards posted on my blog now for more details but I forgot to schedule my post – oops! I used paper along with the Tim Holtz Distress Tool to rough up the edges. You can also use scissors and slide the blade along the edge of the paper for a similar effect. Try it with heavier weighted papers. Thanks for asking!

  2. Kathryn,

Three wonderful cards — each very different, but great in its own right. I especially love the paper and rocket focal point on the first card and the shabby chic look of the second card. TFS!!!

  3. Awesome set of samples Kathryn! Thanks for the inspiration!

  4. Wonderful sketch for Stump Sandy! Kathryn shows how easy it is to use a decent piece of three different patterned papers. Awesome cards! I like the colors and feeling of movement in the first card (rocket).

  5. What a great sketch and what great cards!

  6. Great sketch! Great cards, Kathryn! Thanks for sharing!

  7. Great sketch, Julie, and fab cards, Kathryn! Isn’t it amazing how distressing alters the look of paper? I thought your card looked like fabrics, too! I wouldn’t be without my Tim Holtz distressing tool! I also love the candy cane stripes and sweet sentiment on your 3rd card. Great job!!

  8. Great sketch and fabulous sample cards. Each one is unique and has really helped visualize a card from the sketch. Thanks, ladies!

  9. I used my new Hero Arts stamps you sent me 😉 THANK YOU so much! I love this sketch & made four cards with it
