I have been making cards for about 12 years now and I have not bought a single card since I began making them. I look at them sometimes for ideas but the price blows me away so I don’t even buy them for the ideas. (smile) Thanks for tonight’s show – I was late again.
I go to Hallmark for ribbon on sale after Christmas. I haven’t bought a card in 10 years… Although sometimes When my craft room is a total mess I admit to being tempted!
When my Mojo is lacking I will scan the card section of local stores for inspiration. As soon as I turn them over and see the prices (EEK!!!) I remember why I started making my own cards. Of course, I could probably have bought my own store franchise for what I have spent on craft supplies, but then I’d have to be paying for therapy.LOL!!! Card making is my escape.
Hi Sandy! I especially enjoyed this episode of OWH TV! I love the idea of grouping cardmakers by state so that we can collaborate! Thank you for that upcoming change, it is a good one! I haven’t been to a card store in years, but maybe I should! I am sure there would be inspiration for hand made cards, even in sentiments. And I must say I love the Hero Arts OWH stamp sets! They inspire me. Thanks again Sandy for the education, inspiration and hard work you do to help us to show our appreciation for our military heroes.
I love the vintagey-ness of the Stump Sandy card. The pink got toned down to a lovely deep jewel tone.
Enjoyed watching…you are entertaining and easy to understand. Many thanks for all that you do…looking forward to contributing more in the future and to the coming year (you have your audience anticipating what’s to come!). The cards are eye-catching and sooo creative!
I can’t believe how you made up Stump Sandy card – great job. I can’t remember when I last bought a card from an actual card store – the prices are out of sight and people always tell me that they enjoy a “home-made” card.

Really like to see different ideas with the OWH sets!
Would love to get together for a card party with people from my area.
(Maybe a state digi for Georgia ??)
I like to shop at Hallmark for a special ornament each year
that highlights something our family has done together that year.
I’ll have to get one for me to remember what year I started with OWH.
Also was wondering what company makes your Absence stamp
My mom-in-law doesn’t drive so when I take her grocery shopping she always has a list of cards to buy. I usually look around a little but only buy for 3 reasons: 1)a card for my Dad with an animal on the front that I can color to look like my black poodle 2) a card to use as a pattern for a unique shape or feature 3) something with a character that I don’t have a stamp for such as gumby or smurfs. I just joined OWH so this is my first video. I think I am going to enjoy this.
Father’s Day was my last reason to buy cards at the grocery store. I hated doing it but it let my kids pick out the “fun” cards with sounds that they wanted for their dad. But there was a plus to the whole thing….after spending an arm and a leg on those cards, I didn’t feel bad about buying cardmaking supplies!
I was on a trip recently and needed an unexpected birthday card. I found one at a local drug store, but it was very traumatic to me to have to buy a card! I still shudder to think that I did that. My husband very kindly points out that I didn’t have any of my supplies so I didn’t have a choice. While true, I’m not sure he really gets where I’m coming from on this issue.
Great show as always. I have not bought a card since I started to make cards about 8 years age when I retired from my job. I use the ones I make for every occasion that i need them for. My husband calls my card making an obsession and since I started most of my own money is used for supplies and what ever i think i can’t live with out. I buy some things on line or at craft stores or where ever I see something that i can use. If I go into an Hallmark Store is is for something else not a card. Have a great day!
Another great show- left my “Hallmark” comment on the Youtube comments.
I buy packs of $1 note cards to mail payments in or something of that sort. Every occasion gets a handmade card – and yes, I do feel like I’m cheating on my craft supplies… Lol!
