Featured Friday Cardmaker: Jane E, Garden Grove CA…rest in peace

Today’s featured cardmaker makes my heart a little sad…so I asked JoAnn if I could post this one.

Jane was a cardmaker who sent cards to me since January of 2010. She was such a sweet lady, always wrote little  happy notes on her packing slips. There are some packages that I recognize names on after all these years, and Jane’s was one I always looked forward to. At CHA this year, friends of hers came by our booth to let us know the sad news…she had passed away.

Jane’s friend and LSS owner Linda had this to say:

Jane loved the outdoors. She rode motorcycles and liked to go shooting with her husband Morgan. She taught high school English for many years. Jane liked to tell others that she appreciated them. Whenever Jane saw police or fireman in uniform in a restaurant she always walked up to their table and quietly thanked them for serving the community. Jane was introduced to card making in 2008 by her friend Dee. Jane was very talented and creative and had a wonderful eye for color. Card making brought to life the many art classes she had taken in college. Jane’s passion became making cards for OWH and she loved designing and creating cards for the soldiers. Jane passed in October 2012, from cancer, but her talent will never be forgotten.

I’ve also been told that Jane didn’t want to take any classes that were for techniques that wouldn’t be good for our heroes – that was her focus. Cards perfect for them. And Jane’s supplies have been passed on to an OWHer in the area to continue to bless our heroes….just what Jane would have wanted.

Here are just a few of the hundreds of cards Jane left behind….they were shipped to us courtesy of her LSS, Stamp Fever; I’m excited to get to go through them, stamp the backs with Jane’s retired stamp (see the final photo), and process them for our heroes.

Jane’s stamp is retired now. So in honor of her and all she accomplished for our heroes, will you CASE one of her beautiful cards?

    • I am sorry for the loss of your friend and customer. She was truly gifted. I spent most of 2010 in cancer treatment and my cardmaking got me through the toughest days and nights. Sometimes I could only make one card in a day, but it was still a step forward. It is good to realize, though I never knew it, their was a kindred spirit out there who loved this hobby as much as I do.

  7. Such an inspirational woman, crafter, and obviously such a wonderful friend to those who knew her.
All things I strive to be.
