Featured Friday Card Maker: Ruth L, Post Falls, ID

Hello everyone! This week is another example why I love to hear the stories of our cardmakers…Ruth may live in Idaho now, but she grew up a stone’s throw from me! Small world 🙂 Ruth doesn’t have a blog, but she is on Pinterest! I got lost on her boards – she even has a bacon board like me. I knew I liked her! 🙂 Okay enough of me being chatty – enjoy Ruth’s cards, and leave her some love! -Sandy

How long have you been stamping/card making?

I’ve been stamping about 15 yrs. my sister, Robin Goodson, started stamping about 15 years ago.  She kinda took me under her wing and showed me how to do it.  In fact, she still has the very first card I ever made!!!  She lives about nine miles from me here in Idaho and we get together quite often to stamp and exchange ideas.

Do you have a craft room or specific area where you stamp/craft?

Yes I have a stamp room (but don’t ask for pics! LOL)

What are your favorite stamp/craft products?

My favorite stamps are Stampin’ Up, Art Impressions, Endless Creations & Hero Arts just to name a few!

Do you prefer digis or stamps?

I prefer stamps.

Do you have a favorite theme?

No favorite theme – guess I mostly like them all.

Are there colors you love to include on your cards?

No particular colors – all of them are good!

How did you hear about Operation Write Home?

I heard about OWH from my girlfriends.

What motivates you to make cards for our heroes?

Gosh, what motivates me to make these cards – how can I not.  Our heroes are out fighting for us, trying to keep us all safe.  The least I can do is make them some cards to send home to their family and friends to say Hi, I love you, miss you or whatever they want.  Besides, it makes me feel really good inside to do this for them.

  1. Thank you for being part of OWH Ruth! Your cards are lovely. 🙂

  2. Lovely cards, Ruth! I love the masculine ones in particular, which are harder for me to do. Looks like you have some great stamps for that, but you know just how to embellish them too. Well done, and congrats on being featured today!

  3. Beautiful cards! I love all the little details that either use things in ways I wouldn’t have thought of (like the ticket punch for a tag topper) or just add that extra bit of something special (the figure 8 wire with the ribbon pulled through it). I’m so inspired now!

  4. WOW!!! Ruth, such inspired artwork. Hard to pick a favorite, but I keep returning to the moose. Just love what you’ve done with the border. I’d never have thought to pair the hexagons with the moose, and then to offset the diecuts. Totally works, and fresh and new. Thanks for the inspiration. Love your motivation statement.

  5. Such lovely cards, Ruth! The rich colors you chose and all of the special design touches make your cards very special. I had to ‘pin’ several of your cards for inspiration! Thanks so much for all that you do for OWH. ♡

  6. Great cards, Ruth! I like the way you used the clip on the Hello card, I always forget to use them on my projects. And I agree with Kristi, the ticket idea is a great extended use of this punch.

  7. These are some really nice cards, great work! I especially love the flower cards!

  8. Nice work. They are beautiful.

  9. I’ve been a SU fan for many years and your lovely cards have inspired me to get out some stamp sets I haven’t used in awhile and enjoy them all over again. Beautiful layering on all your cards!

  10. Your cards are gorgeous!!!

  11. You rock Ruth. Nice cards. Keep up the great work.

  12. Beautiful cards, Ruth. I love your designs and simple color pallets. You are so talented. TFS

  13. Each one as lovely as the one before! You have a talent, Ruth! Thanks so much for your contributions!

  14. These are beautiful! I am challenged by “masculine” and these are perfect.Thank you for sharing with us.

  15. Great cards! I especially like the masculine ones. I have family in CDA, beautiful part of the state.

  16. You make CAS cards look so elegant and easy to make.

  17. Hi Ruth, I really love your cards. I really love all of your embellishments. The masculine cards are great. The Lord blessed you with a great talent. Keep up the good work.

  18. Wow, what lovely cards! And, how nice that you and your sister share this hobby. Thanks for all you do for Operation Write Home. 🙂

  19. Your cards are lovely. Unlike Sandy though I can’t imagine why I would want to look at bacon (unless is was fresh and on its way to my face)! LOL

Your details are lovely, and each card looks perfectly balanced!

    Thanks for all you do!

  20. Great batch of cards! 🙂

I like that silver border on the first one? Is that sticker?

I took a look at your Pinterest board. Holy cow! Lots of great cards over there too!

I know the troops will love your cards!

  21. Beautifully done and I got some great ideas for future cards. And, it is difficult to pick a favorite, but I am always partial to flourishes/sprigs, so I say the aqua/black is my fav in this bunch. Really nice job including masculine touches. Thanks for sharing your talent with us and the troops.

  22. Your cards are beautiful, the masculine ones are fab! All receiving them will be so happy!

  23. Beautiful cards. You’re like me. I love color.. All of them. . and 95% of the cards I make are for OWH. Love it.
