Featured Cardmakers: Vicky & Nicki S, Faibault,MN

This Friday we have not one, but two (!!!) featured cardmakers.  Vicky and Nicki are a mother and daughter team who make wonderful cards for OWH.  Whoever has time does the coloring, but most of the actual card design is done together.  They also put kits together for family members, some who come from as far as three hours away to enjoy an afternoon party of cardmaking and giggles. That sounds like so much fun, I have card making envy!

They don’t have a blog, but you can see more of the great cards they’ve made for OWH on Vicky’s Facebook page.  And please take time to leave them some love in the comments!

How long have you been stamping?

We have been making cards for about 4 years and have done some scrap booking prior to that.

Vicky and Nicki S Dog hello Do you have a craft room or specific area where you stamp/craft?

Well we are blessed with a spare bedroom that we use only for crafting and card making. I have a very generous husband who provides lots of toys for our hobby, and storage cabinets to contain our tools. Sometimes if we are really busy trying to get a box out on time, the rest of the house becomes fair game.

What are your favorite stamp/craft products?

We can’t live without our Copic markers, stamps, dies, and die cutting machines as we use them on almost every single card we make.

Vicky and Nicki hug

Do you have a favorite technique?

We like to experiment with lots of different ideas. We use card sketches from OWHTV, Mojo Monday, and Split Coast Stamper

Vicky & Nicki Hey there cowAre there colors you love to include on your cards?

Yes, we like to use all of them, but not all at once on one card. Variety is the spice of life.

Vicky and Nicki colorful miss you

How did you hear about Operation Write Home?

I was reading a chat on Split Coast Stampers in the spring of 2011 and OWH was mentioned more than once. I just had to go see what it was all about. We decided then it was something we wanted to do but the timing didn’t work. Time became available in 2012 and in March of 2012 we sent our first box.

Vicky & Nicki flower miss youWhat motivates you to make cards for our heroes?

American heroes sacrifice their time and families to keep us safe at home; if by doing what we love to do allows them to keep in touch with home then we are happy to continue making cards. They give us so much we are honored to do this little thing for them.
