Featured Cardmaker: Linda K, Grant, MI

Happy  Friday everyone! It’s such an pleasure to have been asked to take over the Featured Cardmaker post from Paula, who’s moved on to new and exciting things with her fabulous Design Bootcamp!  I think you’re all going to be inspired by the cards we’ll be sharing.  For my first week, it’s a pleasure to introduce you all to Linda, from Grant, MI,  and to share some of her wonderful cards to get your new year’s weekend muse in gear. Linda’s son is currently serving in Afghanistan, so she’s fully aware of the importance of the personal contact OWH allows for military families.  She doesn’t have a blog so I hope you’ll take a moment to say hello and leave her some love  in the comments section of this post.

Do you have a craft room or specific area where you stamp/craft?

I am fortunate enough to have a craft room.

What are your favorite stamp/craft products?

I usually use Stampin-up products.

Do you have a favorite technique?

Lately I have relied on my Cuttlebug for dry embossing. I like the texture it gives my cards.

owh linda K miss you revisedAre there colors you love to include on your cards?

My favorite colors are blues and greens, but I am not locked in to any one color.

When I started making cards, I was looking for some place to send cards besides to family members. I did an internet search and discovered OWH.

Our military personnel sacrifice so much in the name of freedom. Making cards is something I can personally do to thank them.

I really like the first card (Thinking of you), where you used the stripes of dotted paper. I’m gonna have to borrow that idea!

  3. Very simple, yet beautiful. Now that is my kind of card.

  6. Your cards are lovely. I like the clean lines and that they’re not overly fussy which makes them perfect for going through the mail system intact. I, too, enjoy SU products and using dry embossing on my cards for texture.

  9. I use alot of Stampin’ Up products as well so I enjoy seeing what other people do with it. I love the three birds. That has become a favorite punch of mine lately. I like the distressing you did on them too…

Thank you for all your comments. These cards are from my “clean and simple” phase. I tend to go back and forth between more elaborate designs and the clean and simple. Not having to be locked into any one style is one of the things I enjoy so much about making cards I do think I need to try some different folds in the future.

  14. Oh Linda, My favorite is the card with the birds. I like the idea of punching the body out of patterned paper and the wings being plain. Nice job. Thank you for making cards for our heroes. I will say a prayer for your son’s safety.

  15. Linda, thank you for the idea of doing multiple bird punches across the card. I have that punch but don’t use it often. Now I have a great way to use it more!

M favorite is the ‘with love’ card with the repeating hearts. The way you swicthed the colors of the bars and hearts is eye-catching and the brighter polka dotted papers are nice against the neutral kraft color.

  17. Joann, congrats on your first feature. I wish you the best of luck with your new venture.
Linda, Your card are all just lovely. I don’t think I can pick a favorite. I would love to send or receive every one of them. Thanks for our inspiration this week.

Hi Linda, I anted to take the time to personally thank you for making the beautiful cards. My husband is currently stationed in Afghanistan just sent my son one of your cards. It is a mustached happy face with “Ole’”. It is such a delight for families back home to get cards from our soldiers overseas. Thank you again for taking the time and for making our day much better.
