Board of Directors

Meet our board of directors for 2014!

[ezcol_1third]DottiDotti Harris of Maple Valley, WA, President of the Board,  has a passion for encouraging people to use their gifts and talents to serve others. She loves helping people find purpose in their lives and is inspired by the joy she sees in them when they contribute to something bigger than themselves. She is a retired CPA and Corporate Controller with over 25 years of business, administration, organization and project management experience. She started rubber stamping in 2000 and was teaching classes within a couple years! She has marketing and operational experience in the craft and hobby industry (retail, wholesale and manufacturing), and has edited and produced an instructional craft book for a stamp manufacturer in 2003. Dotti didn’t “grow up” in the military, but comes from a family of vets and was even born on Salinas AFB! She is blessed by the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of our heroes and their families by serving them through Operation Write Home. OWH’s mission and Dotti’s passion is a perfect match.[/ezcol_1third]

[ezcol_1third]LeslieLeslie Frederick of Clinton UT, Vice President of the Board, found Operation Write Home via an internet craft site and recognized an opportunity to support service members and their families in a tangible way. She brings to the board skills in designing, speaking, teaching and writing from her fifteen-year career in the craft and hobby industry. Leslie enjoys all types of crafts, reading, doing crossword puzzles and hanging out with her grandchildren.[/ezcol_1third]

[ezcol_1third_end]LisaTreasurer Lisa Oliver from Davison, Michigan, has been stamping for over 15 years and making cards for OWH since 2009. She is active on the OWH Facebook page and has her own blog, called Stamping With A Mission, which was started to share her creations with other OWH card makers. She has participated in several bloghops and particularly enjoys the Virtual Cardmaking Parties. Lisa is a graduate of the University of Michigan and a Certified Public Accountant although she has been working in the private sector for most of her career. She is currently serving as the Director of Finance for Genesee Christian School, a non-profit school serving approximately 400 PK-12th grade students. Lisa has just completed her 12th year with GCS in which responsibilities include all aspects within the financial realm – including the preparation of financial statements, payroll, and tax reporting to the federal government. Lisa says: “I am honored to be considered for the Treasurer position on the board of OWH and hope that I can use the skills and talents that have been given to me to assist in the growth and stability of this wonderful organization.”[/ezcol_1third_end]

[ezcol_1third]suzannSecretary SuzAnn Summers of Salt Lake City UT is a librarian by education and is a Resource Coordinator for Intermountain Healthcare, handling web, copyright, budgeting and inventory of printed materials work. She has scrapbooked since 1989 and made cards for OWH since November of 2008. She has a real soft spot for the troops as two of her favorite uncles both served in VietNam and knows how much their written letters home meant to her parents. Both of them are gone now so she feels like part of their youthful vibrancy lives on in her cards. Making cards for OWH is very theraputic and brings joy 4 times over: a cardmaker as she makes them, the shipper as she packs them, the troops as they select a card, and the final loved one at home that receives the card.[/ezcol_1third]

[ezcol_1third]Sue McGettigan of Rancho Palos Verdes, CA, enjoys participating in the arts, including making art, writing, teaching, and always learning. Stamping for over 20 years, she has had the pleasure of having having her work and writings published in magazines and online, as well as serving as a design team member and guest designer for rubber stamping companies. She loves making papercrafts and mixed media, collage and assemblage projects, repurposing, reinventing and recycling.
Proud Mum to two college kids (she’s from Perth in Western Australia!), she works full-time as a Medical Staff Coordinator.
She believes very strongly in the power of communication, and having traveled for many years and living far away from family, she knows the value and significance of receiving a hand written note. She loves to make and send (and receive!) hand crafted cards.[/ezcol_1third]
